  Persecution of Christians and other non-Islamic faiths has reached appalling proportions in the Middle East. Many have died and many more are displaced, running for some place of refuge from the attacking extremists. The Conference of Catholic Bishops has asked that all parishes consider a special collection this weekend, September 6-7 to be given to CRS to meet most urgent needs facing those people.

• Making Clothes for Haiti Children - MC

  Calling all sewing helpers to come and help make Haiti children clothes. This is another annual session of sewing for Haiti orphans will be held at Mother Cabrini Hall. Volunteers are asked to bring sewing tools, a sewing machine if you have one. This year we need help to pay for the sending of the garments. Volunteer missionaries will be going over , they need soft-sided suitcases to fill with clothes . It will cost $50 a suitcase to check in for flight over. We need suitcases and funds for this if you can help these kids in Haiti.

  Marian Milender has had her credentials transferred from the Archdiocese of Chicago and will be commissioned by Bishop Amos on Saturday, September 20th as a Pastoral Associate in the Diocese of Davenport. Mass is at SS Mary & Mathias in Muscatine, Iowa at 11 am. All are invited.

• Confirmation Classes Begin -

  New class for those to receive sacrament of Confirmation. This will be the 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade classes as of this fall. A decision was made to hold the classes on the 2nd and 4th Sundays after Mass at St. Joseph’s. A breakfast will be served. Parents and sponsors are encouraged to come with their youth to classes.

• Elementary Religious Education Begins

  Elementary Religious Education will be starting this Sunday , Sept. 28th after Mass. There will be breakfast for the students and parents attending then they will go to the rooms. Sessions will last a couple of hours .It is very important to attend Mass before as part of the class .Elementary will meet in Carol’s room and Confirmation in the main Hall at St. Joseph’s. Elementary will meet the 2nd and 4th Sunday’s just like the Confirmation Class.
